Boys laughing togetherDuring the summer of 1999, the family of Judy Taylor established the Judy Taylor Foundation. This endowment fund assists people with disabilities by providing participant scholarships for the Community Based Activity Program (CBAP) and Adventures Without Limits (AWL) educational and recreational programs.

Judy attended segregated special education classes during her school years in Indiana. When she moved to Oregon she worked with the Portland Habilitation Center and Eastco Workshop. There she learned the technical skills necessary to participate in the workforce. Judy's family supports the philosophy and activities of the Community Based Activity Program and Adventures Without Limits which provide havens for the development of appreciation and friendships among children of all ability levels. Because Judy attended segregated special education classes when she was growing up, her non-disabled peers never got the opportunity to know her, enjoy her wonderful sense of humor, develop a friendship with her or share her passion for the outdoors.

Dilley group in snowSusan Holstrom, Judy's sister, believes "Judy and her peers would have thrived with organizations such as CBAP and AWL." Judy's warm, friendly personality, quick wit, refreshing sense of humor and love of the outdoors prompted her family to establish the Judy Taylor Foundation in her honor. The Judy Taylor Foundation promotes a greater understanding, community cohesiveness and FUN for people of all abilities!
